Control improvement studies
Troubleshooting and tuning existing controls enables the operators to place most controls into automatic. This greatly enhances process safety and product quality.
There are still opportunities to improve the work environment and reduce the workload of the operators.
Control improvement studies involve evaluating operator tasks, and operating distractions, and interviewing operators to identify control improvement opportunities, including:
- New control schemes
- Identification of possible multivariable control or simple optimization schemes
- New or improved sequencial controls
- Improved graphics, graphic hierarchies, and embedded graphic task
- Operating environment changes (noise, traffic flow, alarm management, and sounds)
- Ergonomic, and operability changes
CollabOrative controls Assistance
- Control Improvement studies require interaction with the operator, while they are operating the unit. The Collaborative Controls engineer observes the board operator while he operates the unit. Observations are made concerning the graphic interface, hierarchy of the graphics, frequency of alarming and response to alarms.
Automatic sequence operations are also observed. - Targeted questions are asked to identify operating concerns and identify controllability improvements.
- Our years of experience in controls are used to generate a report of suggested control and operating workspace improvements.
- All work is preferred to be performed along with a client engineer, such that the client is trained in control evaluation.
